Magnesium is an important element of the composition of chlorophyll in plants, and essential for plant nutrition. It plays an important role in the synthesis of chlorophyll and photosynthesis. Magnesium is involved in chloroplast CO2 assimilation reaction, conducive to the synthesis of sugar and starch and synthesis of sugar, protein and fat. Magnesium can promote the synthesis of vitamin A and vitamin C, and participates in the synthesis of fatty acids, so as to improve the rate of oil and oil seed crops. Magnesium increases crop yield and quality.

Sulfur gets involved in synthesis of proteins and enzymes in crops and redox reaction. Sulfur can increase crop yield, improve product quality; improve legume nitrogen fixation and enhances  crop resistance to the cold and drought .
